| How to insert your own waypoints into TomTom Mobile (Nokia) |
|
Convert the GPX file into a *.ov2 file (TomTom waypoints). You can use GSAK or GPSBabel for this. Get an icon file and give it exactly the same name as the waypoint file but with a *.bmp extension. Place both files into each map folder you have on your Nokia. You will find your own waypoints in the POI list of TomTom. If the name of the two files starts with e.g. "000" or "aaa", your own waypoints will show up on top of the POI categories. The icon file might not show up as expected but e.g. as a red square but that is not important. The waypoints are shown in terms of distance from your present position, not in alphabetical order. Strangely enough the list stops at a distance of approx. 65 kms from the present position. I have not yet checked whether there is a general limitation regarding the length of the list of waypints.
